Super Sweet varieties (sh2) have a 'shrunken' gene that produces kernels that are crisp and juicy, and 4 to 7 times the sweetness of normal sugar (su) types. Due to the low starch content, warm soil temperatures (65°F) are required for germination. Holding qualities are excellent, often 10 days longer than normal hybrids in cold storage. Needs isolation from all other corn types for optimum quality.
