Start seed indoors 6 weeks prior to transplanting outdoors. Plant 1/4" deep in flats, transplanting into Jiffy Pots when plants are 2" high. Or, sow seed directly outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked. Sow thinly 1/4" deep in rows 3' apart, spacing seed 18" apart. Maturity dates are based from the time the plants are transplanted into the garden. To provide proper blanching, the heads should be tied before they are 3" across.
