56 Day. Pole. Romano. This vigorous pole bean, with its strong vines, can withstand the elements. Among the earliest of the romano types, Mortheaster's massive veans (8" long and 1" wide) are pleasantly sweet and stringless. The pods stay tender for extended periods, giving the home gardener time to savor the flavor. White seeded.

Fabulous beans
Apr 1, 2026  |  By Lorie Short
These beans germinate quickly and waste no time in vining up their supports. They taste great fresh or canned for later. And as an added bonus they are not attached by Japanese beetles as much as the Fortex I previously was growing.
I will continue to grow Northeastern Romano pole beans.
